Massanutten Military Academy (Virginia)
Founded in 1899, the Massanutten Military Academy is located in Woodstock, Virginia. The school is a preparatory academy for students in grades 6-12, with an emphasis on military tradition. The 125 student school is run on an honor code based on the one used at West Point. That includes an Honor Council of facility advisers as well as a student honor council that recommend punishment to students who break the honor code.
The academy has traditionally had two complimentary academic focuses. The facility specializes in helping students who have struggled at other schools reach their full academic and personal potential. Massanutten Military Academy also works towards every student continuing their higher education and in the past few years, 100 percent of the graduating students have been accepted into some two or four-year college or university.
While the school is a military academy, its graduating students typically do not go on to pursue a military career. The majority of alumni end up in the corporate or governmental world, with many of them ending moving into the executive officer career path.
