Florida Prep (Florida)
Florida Prep is a private college preparatory school for girls and boys in grades 5-12 located in Melbourne, Florida and was founded in 1961 by Jonathan Dwight. Academics at Florida Prep is their top priority. They offer Honors, Advanced Placement, Aventa Online courses, or Dual Enrollment courses to all students. Since 1978, this academy has had 100% college acceptance rate for all graduating seniors. In addition to the outstanding academic program, FAA has several other programs available to the student body. They encourage students to participate in intramural or interscholastic athletic teams such as archery, track, basketball, or golf. Besides athletic programs, Florida Air Academy offers special programs in skateboarding, flight, surfing, driver’s education, fencing, and lacrosse.
Florida Prep offers a day student program as well as 5 or 7-day boarding program to suit families’ needs. Our focus is preparing your child for college and beyond. We are one of Florida’s oldest and most internationally diverse boarding schools. We currently host students from over 30 countries and 22 US states. The school offers High School students an innovative ‘College Style’ daily schedule with longer classes on a 3-day /2-day rotation, very similar to the schedule a student will encounter in college. Many teachers hold a Master’s Degree or higher. Our college-style schedule allows us to invite adjunct instructors from nearby colleges to teach specific courses. Class sizes are small and students, if eligible, may advance to a higher academic level, regardless of age. We offer the opportunity for students to pursue a Private Pilot License at a nearby airport 20% of our student body receives some form of state or private financial aid We offer an optional AF/JROTC program.
