School Profile
Marianapolis Prep School (Connecticut)
Marianapolis Prep School in Thompson, Connecticut, has a unique admission process. Once an application for admission has been completed, the admissions committee will go through your file. The file review process will take varying times and a notification will be sent with their decision on February for day students and March for residential students. All applications received past mid-January will be reviewed using a different basis. The admission committee realizes every individual is different and takes time to evaluate each application in detail. We strongly evaluate teacher recommendations, exam scoring (test) and academic record of an applicant. They also take into consideration that students are not defined from a test or grade and therefore look at all student’s profile with their extra-curricular and interview information. The goal at Marianapolis is to develop students who have strongly vested interests in their academics, and also their wish to be contributing members of the school community who are active. Marianapolis Prep School is an institution that does not discriminate applicants on basis of gender, color, creed, race or physical handicap during its administration of educational loans, scholarships, admissions, polices and other school programs.

Woodhall, the school's founders, desired a school where male students could excel at academic and non-academic activities. Some of the students had unresolved issues at other schools. Plus, the founders wanted to keep the student population small (under 50 students) for better individualized attention. Today, Mathew Campbell Woodhall, who heads the school, follows his parents' mission for the student population. For example, approximately 20 faculty members work with students in small groups. The academic life is not the only focus for faculty. The Woodhall School and its faculty members place a focus on sports, too. Students have access to a sports and activities program. The sports and activities program operates six days a week. The male student body has different activities from which to choose. As an example,…
