Kent School (Connecticut)
Kent School is a coeducational and a private preparatory school that is located in Kent, Connecticut. The Reverend Frederick Herbert established the school in 1906, and it has a strong affiliation with the Episcopal Church. Kent School has many international students who come from more than 40 foreign countries. The institution is located between the Housatonic River and the Appalachian Trail. Most of the faculties have advanced degrees, and many of the teachers live on the faculty apartments or the faculty village. Kent School provides the students with a curriculum that has more than 160 courses. Most of the courses are provided at the honors, normal, accelerated, and the AP levels. Various pre-engineering classes are provided, and the lessons include manufacturing and structures engineering. The pre-engineering classes are made available through the SEEK program. The school has many unique traditions that support in characterizing the institution. For example, the rising seniors are the ones who climb the skiff mountain and paint the numeral rock. The students are supposed to paint their graduation year on the rock, and they are allowed to paint each other in the process. Most of the students also participate in the interscholastic sports that are held in the institution.

Avon Old Farms School is a prep and boarding school that was founded in 1927 by Theodate Pope Riddle. Although a woman, Riddle had intended to create the first prep and boarding school for boys. Avon is located in Avon, Connecticut on farmland. It originally began with 48 students who went there to prepare for college. Today over 300 students,from 14 to 18 years of age, attend.
