School Profile
Hyde School (Connecticut)
Hyde School is a private coed high school that is based in Woodstock, Connecticut. The school is a unique institution that puts as much emphasis on character building, for its 174 students, as it does on academics. The school’s motto is Courage, Integrity, Leadership, Curiosity and Concern. Hyde School aims to inspire students by focusing on issues beyond the scope of academia, which includes social growth, emotional growth, the arts and athletics. Many of the school’s students reflect a demographic of children who have been diagnosed with medical conditions like ADHD or who have demonstrated a total disregard for authority. Hyde School is usually a last resort for parents who have nowhere to turn after medication and 3rd party counseling has failed their children. The school’s success record of getting children on track emotionally and getting them to succeed academically has garnered the school national recognition, which includes features in major media outlets such as 60 Minutes, Today and 20/20. Hyde school prides itself in rescuing children who are heading down a destructive path. In addition to doing an impressive job of character building among its student body, the school also advances the academic careers of its enrollees in a tremendous way; for example, ninety-eight percent of its students attend college after they graduate.
