School Profile
Southwestern Academy (California)
Southwestern Academy aims to educate both American and international students in an environment where small class sizes and personal attention give each student the chance to succeed at their own personal best level. Student work is catered to personal achievement levels and challenges students appropriately for their abilities. Class sizes are small and sorted by ability, not age, and faculty spends time getting to know the whole student. Southwestern Academy encourages a diverse perspective and prepares its students for a future with a broader perspective and multicultural sensitivities. English as a second language students are given an intensive program to have them speaking English quickly. Two complementary campuses give students a choice of where they want to live and learn, and members of the Southwestern student body may study at the other campus for a week, a month, or even a whole semester to explore a new environment. One is in the beautiful red rock canyons outside of Sedona, Arizona, in a destination known for its magnificent views and opportunities to explore nature. The other campus is in San Marino, California, just miles from the bustling downtown of Los Angeles, with opportunities to explore vibrant city life. Both campuses are scenic and peaceful, and offer students an array of academic and extracurricular activity choices. Students can participate in community service, schools sports and arts programs, and are also involved in student government and clubs. Southwestern students make lifelong friends, experience a multicultural education, and are ready for success in college.

Claremont, CA
The Webb Schools is an "open" school in the California area, which means they are non-sectarian. Most schools have a "focus" on how they want to set themselves apart from others who also provide this service. The Webb's is not only the academic portion but also a driven purpose towards the students developing an internal honor code. Meaning, they are training these youth to not only "do" things, but to do them "rightly". They want to produce people that will lead with courage in hard times, and will do their actions with integrity in a culture that says "anything goes". They even have "unbounded thinking + symposium days" set aside for students and staff to think and plan regarding the responsibilities of being a man or woman in today's culture. Lastly, if you would like to learn "how to think" versus just memorizing and repeating back information, what a better place to…
