Verde Valley School (Arizona)
Founded in 1946 by Hamilton and Barbara Warren, Verde Valley School, located in Sedona, Arizona, is a co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 9-12. The schools mission is to bring together students from all over the world to live, work, and study.
Verde Valley is a smaller school consisting of approximately 120 total students. Having a lower student body allows them to focus on the student and remain true to their mission of challenging students in every area: academics, service, sports, physical work, the arts, and world citizenship.
Verde Valley School students can work towards earning two diplomas – a traditional high school diploma and the prestigious International Baccalaureate diploma. The International Baccalaureate program focuses on critical thinking, building communication skills and exposing students to a global perspective.
Verde Valley School students who choose to work towards a dual diploma also participate in the dirt program. The dirt program is the second part of the International Baccalaureate program. The dirt program is exclusive to VVS. The dirt program allows the student to utilize what they learned outside of the classroom by providing educational and productive hands-on, real-life projects.
Verde Valley School believes that students receive the best education with this experiential approach to combining academic rigor with real-world relevance and application.
