The Orme School of Arizona (Arizona)
The Orme School is a college preparatory boarding school located in Mayer, serving grades 8-12. Set on a 26,000 cattle ranch in the temperate high desert of Arizona, Orme’s rigorous college preparatory curriculum features Advanced Placement options in all major course areas while being rounded out by a variety of unique electives such as Horsemanship, Sustainability, and Fine Arts.
Orme’s student body is comprised of some of the best students from around the world, with 20 countries, 10 states and 3 Native American tribes represented on campus. The diversity of Orme’s student body, coupled with small class sizes allows for classroom discussions that take on a global perspective that many of the larger boarding schools are not able to offer. Faculty hold advanced degrees and come from across the country and are eager to meet new students and their families! It is no wonder that Orme was recently ranked as one of the Top 20 Boarding Schools in the United States. Orme was also honored to be the only school on this list chosen by PBS to be featured on their Voices in America program.
Outside of the classroom, students take part in a variety of sports and activities. As a member of the Canyon Athletic Association, Orme athletes compete across the state, dominating sports such as football, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, swimming, and tennis. In addition, Orme has a state-of-the-art equestrian center that offers instruction in both English and Western equine disciplines, extensive horse trails, and the opportunity to still participate in cattle round-ups! Orme also offers a variety of non-physical after-school activities such as Robotics, Engineering, Drama, Gardening, Art, Mathletes, and Sustainability.
Orme’s intensive college counseling program walks students through the college placement process beginning in 8th grade when students start taking PSAT tests and following them throughout their 11th and 12th-grade years with SAT prep, ACT prep, SAT and ACT testing on campus, TOEFL testing on campus, college representatives on campus, college campus visits, alumni connections and more. 100% of Orme students graduate and go on to some of the top colleges and universities in the world!
