The Illinois school system (Pre-K – 12) operates within districts governed by locally elected school boards and superintendents. Elementary schools serve children who live in Illinois from kindergarten through eighth grade. Families can choose from their neighborhood elementary school, or they may apply to attend any other school or boarding school across the state that their student is eligible for and has available seats.

Located 45 miles from Chicago, the Academy has seven residence halls on campus and offers itself as a springboard for those students wanting to gain a competitive edge in math and science. Designed for grades 10-12, all students must be accepted into the school prior to beginning tenth grade. For those students who have attended, many have been accepted into Ivy League schools.
